About the Artist

Hi! My name is Jennifer (Jen to most people). I’m a mom, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a musician, an aspiring therapist, and an artist. Some people call me friend. I live in Waco, TX, but I hail originally from Killeen and am a vagabond at heart, as I love to travel and have lived in various places in Texas.

I love music (particularly rock and metal) and art (especially abstract). I started drawing when I was two years old, and I would illustrate book "covers" for any books I aspired to write at the ripe age of 8 years old. Through high school, my love for Fine Arts, as well as English, grew. I entered a few drawings in the local fair in 1999 and won first place, as well as writing poetry and submitting my poems for publication.

In 2006, I was accepted into the University of Texas in Austin for Studio Art. While my stay at UT was short lived, the techniques I learned in my Design and Drawing classes were extremely valuable. I hold them dear to my heart today. I have also written several acoustic songs and play guitar.

Presently, I am a graduate student through a clinical mental health program at a university here in Texas. I am also currently researching solfeggio frequencies and their healing effects on trauma and mental disorders. Sound healing is a passion of mine, as well as inspiring people by encouraging them that they may be a product of their environment, but it does not define them.

I am a very sensitive, emotional person. I can sense moods and vibrations from people around me, and a lot of those aspects influence my artwork. My favorite color is blue, so if you see a lot of blue, I probably painted it! In a Life Between Lives session I received from Dr. Mark Johnson, I learned that I resonate with Sirius, which is a part of the Canis (dog-star) constellation. It’s believed their 5-D home consists of sea creatures, mermaids, and is a beautiful realm filled with every color blue (no wonder). The LBL session I had opened my eyes and healed my spirituality. The archangel usually beside me is Raphael, and I’m a believer of past lives; that we are all energy, and that there are realms which we can’t see with our human eyes.

I am an abstract artist at heart, but I have been doing much more self-reflection and have now grown interested in abstract regarding portraits. I am in the process of stepping out of my comfort zone and growing; it’s the most beautiful and terrifying experience I’ve ever had. The Waco art community is flourishing, and I’ve met some of my dearest friends through networking and refraining from being a total INFJ (Introvert for those who haven’t taken the Myers-Briggs personality test).

The owner of Shway Designs and my friend Julian Rosas, and I were given the honor of painting “Totality” during the April 2024 total eclipse in Waco at Cultivate 7Twelve. It was a pretty awesome experience!

Some of my favorite events that I’ve participated in are: the Waco Uptown Art Walk, the Waco Holistic and Metaphysical Fair; the New Moon Market in Tyler, TX, and the Smile Like Marcus celebration Art Exhibit in Killeen, TX. In Summer 2024, I was featured as a Local Artist at Cultivate 7Twelve. I’ve also been featured in:

  • Voyage Dallas Magazine in October 2018

  • Alternative Perspectives exhibit at Gallery Main Street in Tyler October-November 2018 with “My Mother’s Love”

  • The Heart online exhibition through The Artist's Circle Gallery in Austin, Texas in March 2021 with “Resilience”

  • Through Honeybee Gardens, an organic and cruelty-free makeup line based in Pennsylvania, USA, my piece “Resilience” is on the company’s first All-in-One Makeup Palette. You can purchase it here if you so choose: https://honeybeegardens.com/resilience-all-in-one-palette/

I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to get to know me and my artwork. It means so much. Thank you and have a wonderful, blessed day!
